When Affirmations Don’t Work and How To Do It Right
Updated: Jul 5, 2022
‘Think positively… and you will get everything you desire. How many times have we’ve been taught this yet so many people are still struggling to figure out why their life is less than fulfilling? So, do affirmations really work? It must since there are so many success stories so the question remains, how does it work for some and not for others.
I’m going to let you in on a tip concerning affirmations… they ABSOLUTELY work, however (and that’s a BIG however!), just saying them repetitively is not enough to guarantee success in achieving whatever you are desiring.
These are 4 things you need to practice while exercising the affirmation in order for you to increase your chances of successfully manifesting your dreams and desires into physical form.
1. You already have it…. NOW… not later!
Don’t use the words “will have” or “will get”. This gives us a subconscious sense that we are striving to achieve the goal which will cause us to do just that- keep striving to attain. Affirmations are positive statements that bring a goal or desired outcome from what they want in the future to the present. What this means is that you have to envisage living as if you have already achieved the goal or desired vision. What this does is it impresses the realized goal onto the subconscious mind and you then start behaving in a way that will start manifesting these statements into your reality.
The act of repeating the affirmations, motivates, inspires, and programs the mind to act according to the repeated words.
2. Do you REALLY want it?
Often, we think we want something, maybe because it’s an old desire that we just won’t let go of or it was someone else’s goal, but somehow you just can’t seem to make it happen. An affirmation will not work if you have contradicting beliefs or desires within your subconscious mind.
Make sure you check in to your heart to get aligned with what YOU want and not what you think you should want.
3. Say it WITH feeling and like you mean it!
Just repeating something robotically doesn’t always work because robotic means there is no emotional connection to the words. To bring emotions and feelings into an affirmation, you need to visualize yourself in the state of having already achieved the goal and the emotions tied to the achievement.
Remember, manifestation happens through our feelings and our heart, not from our head. Bring those amazing affirmations down to the heart and you will see how quickly it shows up in your physical world!
4. REPEAT REPEAT REPEAT and start living it!
Once you have felt what you are affirming, then it’s time to repeat and repeat like there is no tomorrow! Sing it throughout your day. Celebrate as though you have achieved it. It is scientifically proven that repetition is the key to learning and taking action. Through repetition, the thought or ideas are so impressed within the subconscious (emotional) mind that this newfound deep belief will propel us to behave and take action automatically.
